Texas Hold ‘Em comes to campus

by Patrick Scott

One hundred dollars is on the line as students, faculty and staff face off in a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament scheduled for Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

The winner of the tournament, held at the Student Recreation Center, will receive a $100 gift certificate to the campus bookstore, said David Pratt, assistant manager at the SRC. He said players can sign up at any time for the free tournament.

One Pellissippi State student, Trisha Fergus, said that a Texas Hold ‘Em craze has been sweeping the nation because it is so addicting. “Whether you are playing for fun or for money, nothing else can replace the feeling of going ‘all-in,'” she said.

Another student, P.J. Taal, said he is issuing a challenge to anyone who can beat him in the tournament. “They might as well hand me the $100 now,” said Taal.
