The Pellissippi annual Hot Air Balloon Festival begins Friday September 25.

The charitable event will take place at Pellissippi’s Hardin Valley campus. Patricia Myers, the Director of alumni relations and annual giving at Pellissippi said, the annual Hot air Balloon Festival at Pellissippi is the top fundraising event for the Pellissippi State Foundation general fund. The festival brings in “substantial funding” for new academic programs, technology, equipment and scholarships Myers said.

The festival, a two-day event in its sixth year, is expected to bring in 10,000 to 12,000 visitors.  Events include,

  • Live music sponsored by WIVK
  • Balloon Glow
  • K-9 dog show
  • Hare and Hound contest

Myers said a children’s area will include arts and crafts vendors and face painting for children. The “crowd-favorite” Balloon Glow will take place both nights. Glo Kehoe, pilot of the Energizer Bunny Hot Hare Balloon will be a special guest at the festival.

The Hot Air Balloon Festival brings in around 200 volunteers and is a “Fundraising-Friend raising” event, Myers said. Admission for the festival is $10 per day per vehicle and $5 spectator fee if parked off campus.
