Dr. Anthony Wise Ready to Begin Stewardship

Building relationships in the community will be the goal of Dr. Anthony Wise when he takes over as president of Pellissippi State Community College on July 1.

In a phone interview, Dr. Wise stated that his most immediate goal would be to take a much more external role than his previous post as Vice President of Learning. He said he wants to work on “building relationships in the community.”

When asked about his goals as President, Wise said that his overall long term goal is access to education, and that he hopes the building of the new Strawberry Plains campus will “ease overcrowding” and “give every student a chance to be successful.”

Wise said he was most looking forward to working with the students and the faculty, and is also ready to work with the students in a different manner than in his previous post.

Wise went on to say that, while there is nothing he is dreading, he does recognize the challenges that face the school, including trying to maintain small class sizes and helping students achieve a successful relationship with their professors.

Dr. Wise had one last thing to say: “I’m proud to work here, proud of the institution, and proud of the students. I look forward to moving the institution forward and creating better opportunities for everyone.”
