God is in The Details

            Pellissippi State Community College will host a lecture about the introduction to Black Gospel.

A lecture on Black Gospel will be held at Pellissippi on February 21, at 1 p.m.

Gospel can be looked at and listened to in so many forms, gospel soul and funk is just one of those ways.

This lecture is an Introduction to the world of gospel soul and funk music and the history of vinyl records. Records will be played live during the lecture. [www.pstcc.edu]

This lecture is a continuation of the faculty lecture series at Pellissippi.

Mad as Matter

Pellissippi State Community College will host a lecture about matter and what the world around us is made of.

This lecture analyzes through idealist philosophy and the work of George Berkeley, what the world around us is made of, and how those facts turn out to be more complicated than most people think. [www.pstcc.edu]

Science Fiction coming to Pellissippi

A lecture based around science fiction is coming to Pellissippi State Community College.

The lecture lead by Trent Eades, an English professor at Pellissippi, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 12:30 p.m. in the Goins building auditorium on the Hardin Valley campus.

The lecture traces the development of science fiction from its earliest Greco-Roman beginnings to present day, as described by the faculty lecture series webpage.

The department of marketing and communications described the lecture as a continuation of the faculty lecture series at Pellissippi.

Lecture on biological sex to be presented at Pellissippi

A lecture about Sex, Lies and Hermaphrodites is coming to Pellissippi State Community College.

The lecture, lead by Heidi Speck, a philosophy professor at Pellissippi, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the Goins building auditorium on the Hardin Valley campus.

Julia Wood, director of marketing and communications, described the lecture and various others as being a part of the Faculty Lecture Series at Pellissippi.

The Faculty Lecture Series webpage described the lecture as “a take on the surprising truths about the nature of biological sex, including a look at roles of chromosomes, hormones and anatomical characteristics in defining the biological sex.”
