Adult Program Gives Fresh Start

by Francesco Torricelli

Pellissippi State’s Adult Reconnect program reached 2,100 eligible students for the 2017-18 school year.

Pellissippi State is providing a new beginning to many adult students.

“The Pellissippi Adult Reconnect program was Pellissippi’s way to provide a fresh start regarding higher education to those who were over 24 years old and or primarily listed as independent,” Financial Aid Director Richard Smelser said, “It allowed a student to start with a 0.0 GPA and was valid for up to 5 years, appealing primarily to someone who might be married, older, or looking to go back to school.”

Getting a leg up on other participating colleges throughout the state, Pellissippi’s Adult Reconnect program started and was funded one year before the state program. It received the third most Tennessee Reconnect applications in the state. The program’s goal is to reach 4 million students across the state.

Current or potential students to Pellissippi State interested in the upcoming Tennessee Reconnect Program should contact Pellissippi State’s Admissions office or visit http://tnreconnect.gov for more details.
